From the trench to the test result

Clyde Network Testing installs, repairs and proves the underground networks that carry data and power. Twenty directly employed people, our own plant, and a SafeContractor-assessed safety system behind every job, from the first cut to the final splice.

Six disciplines, one certificate, one crew

Every line below is assessed and listed on our SafeContractor schedule, so a procurement team can check scope on the SSIP portal before we've sent a compliance pack. Open any line to see what it covers and what it looks like on site.

Fibre splicing & network testing

The "testing" in the name. Fusion splicing, closure build and tray management, then OTDR and power-meter proving so the circuit is handed over with results, not promises.

  • Fusion splicing
  • Closure build
  • OTDR & power meter
  • Fault finding
  • Handover test packs

Telecoms

Cable installation & repair

Underground and overhead telecommunication cabling: duct and sub-duct installation, cable pulling, fault location and repair on live networks, to the operator's specification.

  • Duct & sub-duct
  • Cable pulling
  • Chambers & joint boxes
  • Live network repair

HV overlay works

High voltage overlay and the civils that go with it, delivered through tier-one contractors on distribution network programmes. One crew takes the scheme from first cut to live circuit: excavation to energisation.

  • HV cable route civils
  • Trenching & ducting
  • Backfill & reinstatement
  • Tier-one delivery partner

Civils

Groundworks, excavation & earthmoving

Trenching, excavation, duct and pipe laying, backfill and reinstatement, with underground services located, exposed and protected before the bucket goes in.

  • Service location
  • Trenching
  • Duct & pipe laying
  • Backfill & reinstatement
  • Highways working

Civils

Concrete works & groundworks

Chambers, bases, plinths and structural concrete groundworks, formed, poured and finished for telecoms and power infrastructure.

  • Chambers & bases
  • Plinths
  • Formwork
  • Finishing

Confined space services

Chamber and confined space entry by trained teams under permit-controlled working, with gas monitoring and rescue arrangements in place before anyone goes below ground.

  • Permit to work
  • Gas monitoring
  • Rescue arrangements
  • Trained entry teams

Excavation to energisation

On HV overlay schemes we don't hand the trench to someone else. The crew that breaks ground lays the duct, backfills, reinstates and stays until the circuit is live, so there is one accountable party for the whole route.

Stage 2ExcavateTrench cut to the specified depth and width, with bank support where ground conditions need it.
Stage 3Duct & layDuct installed, bedded and surrounded; cable pulled on the planned route.
Stage 4BackfillCompacted in layers with warning tape and marker tile placed over the cable.
Stage 5ReinstateSurface returned to specification across footway, carriageway and agricultural land.
Stage 6EnergiseTesting, jointing support and handover so the circuit goes live on programme.

Schemes delivered

HV cable routes across Cumbria delivered excavation to energisation as delivery partner to Alyntra Group, plus fibre and duct works for the telecoms side of the business. All our own photographs, taken by the crews doing the work.

Fibre and duct

Closure builds, splicing and power-meter proving on live fibre networks, with our own plant and traffic management on site.

Health & safety

The paperwork is the product

Safety is managed, documented and audited. Competent advice comes from a retained external health and safety consultancy, day-to-day compliance runs on UtiliGuard, and the whole system is assessed each year by a UKAS-accredited SSIP member scheme.

Policy & arrangements

Signed, dated and reviewed. The current issue covers asbestos, lifting operations, electricity and our duties as a contractor under CDM 2015.

Risk & COSHH libraries

Excavation, underground services, duct and pipe laying, confined space entry, work at height, highways working and plant.

Competency register

A training matrix for every operative, with card and certificate expiry tracked and renewals booked before they lapse.

Site inspections

Documented HSEQ site inspections with actions closed out and the record available for client audit.

Digital compliance

Site management, RAMS, briefings and workforce competency run on UtiliGuard, so every record is time-stamped, searchable and ready for a client audit without a trip to the van.

Toolbox talks

Delivered on underground services, excavation safety and task-specific hazards before work starts.

RIDDOR & investigation

Clear reporting duties and an investigation procedure, with findings fed back into the risk library.

  3. RAMSRisk assessments, permits and briefings issued and signed before work starts
  4. ResultsFibre handed over with test results, not just a closed chamber lid
  5. RecordsCompliance managed digitally on UtiliGuard, with the audit trail available to clients on request
